Sis' Chili


Mid-20th Century Northern style chili with beans.

Time: 2 hours 30 mins.

4 cans red chili beans

1 chopped onion

1 chopped green pepper (optional)

1 lb. ground beef

3 Tbs. oil

1 large can diced tomatoes (28 ounces or better)

1 bay leaf

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. paprika

6 whole cloves

2 Tbs. chili powder

1/8 tsp. cayenne

Brown onions, pepper and meat in oil.

Drain off fat.

Add tomato and seasonings.

Simmer 2 hours, adding water as needed.

Add beans and heat thoroughly.


Rather than eat this chili with crackers, my sister and I liked to garnish our servings with

popcorn. Crazy? Try it!
