Sis' Chicken Mushroom Bake


Adaptable recipe that works well with chicken or pork.

Time: 1 + hour

2 1/2 to 3 lbs. cut up frying-chicken (or equivalent amount of pork chops)

Double recipe of basic white sauce*

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup mushroom pieces

1 envelope dry onion soup mix*

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Arrange chicken pieces in large casserole.

Combine milk, white sauce, mushrooms, and onion soup mix and pour over meat.

Bake for about one hour until chicken is fully cooked.


* Original recipe called for two cans of

cream of mushroom soup.

Note: this can be made on the stovetop with boneless chicken tenders, which cook faster. To do this, lightly brown the tenders in a small amount of oil. Pour off the oil, then cover the tenders with the sauce mixture and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
